How to use this calculator
- 01Enter the net paved area.
- 02Enter the actual paver length, width, and planned joint width.
- 03Choose a waste allowance suitable for the pattern and number of cuts.
Assumptions and limitations
What the estimate assumes
- Pavers use a repeating rectangular grid.
- One joint width is allocated to each module in both directions.
- The result rounds up to a whole paver.
What it does not determine
- Pattern repeats, borders, mixed sizes, curves, and laying direction can change quantity.
- Base, bedding, edging, and drainage materials are not included.
- Use the manufacturer’s coverage per pallet when it is available.
Frequently asked questions
Why does joint width affect the count?
In a regular grid, each installed paver plus its share of the joint covers a module. Wider joints slightly reduce the paver count.
How much paver waste should I use?
Straight layouts need less than diagonal patterns, curves, or many borders. Choose based on the actual pattern and cutting plan.
Can this calculate mixed-size patterns?
No. Use the manufacturer’s pattern-specific square-foot coverage or a layout schedule for mixed modules.
